02 Jul 2024 0 Comments
Hello, everyone! Today I would like to introduce this M5Stack Dial. This is a multi-functional EMBEDDED development board, using ESP32-SFN8 master chip M5StampS3 microcontroller. The shell is made of plastic, and the front is equipped with 1.28-inch round TFT touch screen, on-board buzzer, RTC, RFID detection and other functions. The built-in rotary encoder rotates through the outer ring for menu selection interaction, there is a rotary ring on the side to fix Dial, there are four interfaces at the bottom, and a HY2.0-4p expansion port on the left and right can be personalized design, the upper is a lithium battery power port, and the lower is a Type-C interface. In addition, the center also has a hidden button for entering the download mode, which is easy to download custom programs, often used in smart home control, Internet of Things projects, smart wear, access control, industrial control and educational maker projects.

Native Function Introduction

  1. Power on and menu selection: After power on, Dial displays a circular menu. Make menu selections by rotating the outer ring.

  2. LCD screen test: After selecting and entering, you can select the background color by rotating the disk for painting and writing test.

  3. RTC timer: still timing in the shutdown state, and low energy consumption.

  4. RFID reading: Press to enter, place the ID card at the top of the screen, and Dial will display the read card number.
  1. Screen brightness adjustment: 255 levels of dimming, counterclockwise rotation to reduce the brightness, clockwise rotation to increase the brightness.

  2. WiFi scanning: Scan nearby WiFi and slide the list by rotating the disk.

  1. Bluetooth connection: Use Dial as the slave for Bluetooth connection, and connect by Bluetooth name and ID.

M5Dial Indicates the Operation Flow

  1. Power on: WAKE up can be started by pressing the Wake button and IRQ signal triggered by RTC periodically. After triggering the wake up signal, the hold G46 pin needs to be set to a high level 1 during program initialization to maintain the power supply, otherwise the device will enter the sleep state again.

  2. Shutdown: When there is no USB external power supply, press the RST button to achieve; Or when there is no USB external power supply, set HOLD(GPIO46)=0 in the program operation, that is, to achieve power off.

  3. If you want to enter download mode, press and hold the G0 button on StampS3 before starting, power on, and release.

Now, let's take a closer look at the specific application scenarios of M5Stack Dia!
