''A unique card computer—Card Computer. The M5Stack Cardputer is a microcomputer equipped with a keyboard, display, wireless capabilities.''

What is M5Stack Cardputer

Hello everyone, today I am going to introduce you to a unique card computer—Card Computer. The M5Stack Cardputer is a microcomputer equipped with a keyboard, display, wireless capabilities, as well as a built-in microphone and speaker... all of which make it sound more impressive and practical than it actually is. The display is a 1.14-inch TFT LCD screen. Its keyboard is designed for thumb typing (which seems uncomfortable to use). The processor is an ESP32 microcontroller, which is not very fast.

Review

First, let's take a look at its appearance and peripherals. The exterior is composed of a plastic shell. On the front of M5Stack Cardputer, it features a 1.14-inch TFT screen. The left side has a microphone, while the right side houses an M5StampS3 microcontroller with an ESP32-SFN8 main chip. The lower part is equipped with a 56-key standard keyboard.

On the left side of the device, there is an expandable HY2.0-4P interface, which can be adjusted for 5V input or output using a switch.

On the right side of the device, there is a speaker and a Type-C interface for the microcontroller, which can be used for our future creative projects and development.

On the top of the M5Stack Cardputer device, there is an infrared emitter for infrared control interactions, a reset button, an SD card slot for expanding storage, a power button (left for off, right for on), and a menu return button. Additionally, the back of the device features several holes compatible with LEGO, allowing for easy DIY modifications.

Power Supply

The power supply for the card computer consists of an internal power source and a base power source, providing long-lasting battery life. The M5Stack Cardputer internal battery is 120mAh, and the base battery is a 1400mAh lithium battery. Upon receiving the package, you'll find a hexagonal screwdriver included. You can use it to unscrew the back panel and check the base battery. These two power sources provide additional power for the card computer.

Let's take a closer look at the native functions of the card computer. First, power it on and press any key to enter the main menu. The first option is Wi-Fi connection, followed by the voice recorder, and then our chat function, which requires two card computers. Both parties can open a chat and send "openelab". Other features include infrared control, an interactive REPL environment, Wi-Fi settings, timers, and keyboard connection.

M5Stack Cardputer

The Cardputer is a card-sized computer designed for engineers, utilizing the M5StampS3 as its main controller. For control and interaction, it is equipped with a 56-key keyboard and a 1.14-inch TFT screen for display interaction. Additionally, it features an onboard SPM1423 digital MEMS microphone for recording or wake-up functions, and it is connected to a cavity speaker for sound playback. An infrared emitter is also included for external infrared control interactions.

In terms of expansion, the Cardputer has an onboard Grove port, allowing for the expansion of I2C sensors. For storage, it includes a Micro SD card slot to expand storage capacity. Powering the device is a solution that includes a 120mAh internal battery and a 1400mAh battery in the base, significantly enhancing battery life. The system includes lithium battery charging and boost/buck circuits.

Structurally, the base contains magnets for metal adsorption and is designed to be compatible with LEGO hole expansions. This product is suitable for engineers for rapid functional verification and design, industrial control, home control systems, and more.
