How to Use HLK-LD2410B:

To use the HLK-LD2410B sensor effectively, follow these steps:

  1. Connect the Sensor:

  • The module has 5 pins, with the following functions:

Pin Symbol Name Function
1 OUT Target Status Output High when human presence is
detected, low when no human is
detected
2 UART_Tx UART Tx Serial transmission pin
3 UART_Rx UART Rx Serial reception pin
4 GND Ground Ground connection
5 VCC Power Input 5V power input

Ensure the power supply provides at least 200mA of current to guarantee stable operation.

  1. Installation:

  • The module can be installed either on the ceiling or wall, depending on the desired coverage area.

  • Ensure that the radar antenna is facing the area to be monitored and that the surrounding space is free from obstructions. The installation environment should avoid interference factors, such as animals or large objects that are continuously moving.

  1. Configuration:

Using Bluetooth:

The sensor supports Bluetooth functionality, allowing users to configure the radar via a mobile app. You can download the supported app from the app store (available for Android and iOS).

  • After installation, open the app and connect to the sensor.

  • You can adjust the sensor’s detection range, sensitivity, and detection delay using the app's interface.

Using UART Communication:

Alternatively, you can connect the sensor to a PC and use the configuration tool to adjust settings.

  • The module communicates via UART with a default baud rate of 256000.

  • The configuration tool allows users to set the maximum detection distance, adjust sensitivity, and configure the unmanned delay time.

  1. Configuration Parameters:

Users can modify the configuration parameters of the module via the serial port to suit different application needs. Configuration settings are retained even when power is turned off. Configurable parameters include:

  • Maximum Detection Distance: Set the maximum detectable distance, where only human targets within this range will be detected and reported.

  • Sensitivity: The energy value of the detected target (ranging from 0 to 100) must exceed the sensitivity threshold for the target to be recognized. Each distance gate’s sensitivity can be independently adjusted.

  • Unmanned Duration: When the radar transitions from detecting "human" to "no human", it will report "human" for a duration. If the radar does not detect a human within that time frame, it will report "no human".

  1. Visualization Configuration Tool:

A PC-based configuration tool has been developed to enhance the efficiency of testing and configuration processes. This software interfaces with the module’s serial port to facilitate parameter reading and configuration. Additionally, it provides a real-time display of detection results, thereby improving user engagement with the system.

How to Use the Configuration Tool:

  • Connect the module’s serial port using a USB-to-serial tool.

  • Select the appropriate serial port number in the configuration tool, set the baud rate to 256000, choose engineering mode, and click connect device.

  • Once connected, click start to display the detection results and data on the graphical interface.

  • After connecting, you can read or set the parameters by clicking stop.

Note: Parameters cannot be read or configured while the start button is clicked. You must stop the process before adjusting configurations.

  1. Installation Conditions:

Confirm Minimum Installation Clearance:

  • If the radar is to be installed in a casing, the casing must have good wave-transmitting properties at 24GHz and must not contain metal materials or materials that shield electromagnetic waves.

Installation Environment Requirements:

The product needs to be installed in a suitable environment. If used in the following conditions, detection performance may be affected:

  • Continuous motion of non-human objects within the sensing area, such as animals, continuously swinging curtains, or large plants near air vents.

  • Large areas of strong reflectors in the sensing area may interfere with the radar antenna.

  • When wall-mounted, consider external interference from room air conditioners, electric fans, etc.

Installation Considerations:

  • Ensure the radar antenna is facing the area to be detected, with the antenna's surroundings open and unobstructed.

  • Ensure the installation position of the sensor is secure and stable, as the radar's own movement can affect detection performance.

  • Ensure no objects behind the radar are moving or vibrating. Radar waves have penetration properties, and the antenna's back lobe may detect objects moving behind the radar. You can use a metal shield or metal backplate to block the radar's back lobe and reduce the impact of objects behind the radar.

  • The theoretical distance accuracy of the radar is derived from a physical resolution of 0.75 meters, processed through a special algorithm. Due to differences in the target's size, state, and RCS, the accuracy of target distance will fluctuate, and the maximum detection range may also slightly vary.

  1. Application Scenarios:

The HLK-LD2410B module is suitable for various applications, including:

  • Smart Lighting Control: Automatically detect whether someone is in a room and control lighting accordingly.

  • Security Systems: Used to detect human intrusions and trigger alarms or security devices.

  • Smart Appliances: Automatically turn off devices like air conditioners and TVs when no one is in the room to save energy.

  • Health & Safety: Monitor dangerous environments to prevent hazardous equipment (such as UV lamps) from activating when people are nearby.

  1. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Ensure the sensor is free from physical obstructions.

  • Adjust sensitivity if the sensor is either too sensitive (detecting irrelevant movements) or not sensitive enough (failing to detect human presence).

  • Ensure Bluetooth or UART communication settings are correct for configuration and parameter adjustments.
