The APSM (Advanced Porous Silicon Membrane) process digital composite sensor, identified as BME280, is designed to measure ambient temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure with low power consumption.
It is compatible with the BMP280 and follows the same operational principles as the barometric temperature register control and data readout. The humidity-sensitive element offers fast wake-up and response times, high accuracy, and a wide temperature operating range.
The barometric pressure-sensitive element is characterized by low noise, high precision, and high resolution for absolute atmospheric pressure sensing. The temperature sensing components are known for their low-noise, high-resolution characteristics, and they enable temperature-compensated self-correction for humidity and barometric pressure values.
The humidity sensing element and barometric pressure sensitive element can be independently enabled or disabled through the configuration of the sampling rate register. This sensor is suitable for use in space-limited mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, and wearable devices. Additionally, it finds applications in weather forecasting, vertical speed indication, flight control devices, indoor and outdoor navigation, and smart home devices.
