OpenELAB L298P Motor Shield DC Motor Driver Expansion Board

OpenELAB L298P Motor Shield DC Motor Driver Expansion Board

€12,50

There are various methods to drive motors, and using the L29P chip is a widely adopted solution. The L298P, an excellent high-power motor driver chip from STMicroelectronics, can directly drive DC motors, two-phase, and four-phase stepper motors with a current of up to 2A. The motor output is protected by eight high-speed Schottky diodes.

We have designed an expansion board based on the L298P circuit, which is stacked and can be directly plugged into the UNO R3 board. This design reduces the technical complexity for users in both motor driving and operation.

Once the driver expansion board is stacked on the UNO R3 board and powered on via the BAT pin, turning the DIP switch to the ON position powers both the driver expansion board and the UNO R3 board using an external power supply. The motor and power connectors on the expansion board feature PH2.0-2P anti-reverse connectors to prevent incorrect power connections, which could damage the circuit or cause incorrect motor direction, thereby reducing testing complications.

In addition, the expansion board includes a 2.54mm pitch header interface, which also serves as a serial communication interface. It is compatible with commonly used Bluetooth modules like HC-06 and HM-10. To facilitate connecting additional sensors or modules, the driver board also includes three XH-2.54mm 3P anti-reverse connectors, two XH-2.54mm 4P anti-reverse connectors, and one XH-2.54mm 5P anti-reverse connector. The expansion board expands two digital I/O ports, two analog I/O ports, and one I2C communication port via 2.54mm pitch pin headers. A reset button is also provided on the expansion board for easy resetting.

The expansion board supports up to four DC motors. By default, the jumpers connect the A1 and A2, B1 and B2 motor interfaces in parallel, with the same motion direction. The eight jumper caps can be used to control the rotation direction of the motor interfaces. For example, if the two jumper caps on the A1 motor interface are switched from horizontal to vertical, the rotation direction of the A1 motor will be reversed.
