On March 15, 2025, OpenELAB and M5Stack co-hosted the M5Fans Meetup at Munich Innovation Center, Yangtze Delta Region Institute of Tsinghua University Zhejiang. This exclusive gathering of over 30 engineers and IoT enthusiasts offered a deep dive into the evolution, applications, and latest advancements in modular embedded computing, with M5Stack as a powerhouse for rapid prototyping and smart IoT development.

The event opened with a welcome address by OpenELAB’s founder, Ping Chen, introducing the day’s agenda and distinguished guests from M5Stack.

Bo Liu, Engineer at M5Stack, introduced the UIFlow Web IDE, a drag-and-drop programming interface designed to simplify IoT development. UIFlow supports visual programming for over 100 M5Stack devices, integrating sensors, modules, and cloud platforms. With its cloud interconnectivity and project-oriented design, UIFlow accelerates prototyping and product development, making embedded system design more intuitive and accessible.

Engineering in Action: Live Demonstrations & Prototyping
Following a coffee break, attendees had the opportunity to explore real-world applications of M5Stack hardware, with guest engineers presenting their innovative prototypes:

🔹Marc Schlichte (Guest Speaker) showcased his M5Stack-powered night lamp, breaking down its sensor integration, UI design, and source code, offering a live demonstration of its functionality.

🔹Ping Chen (OpenELAB Founder) shared OpenELAB’s Smart Pet Box, an M5Stack Plus2-based smart product that integrates moisture, warmth, and CO2 detection for intelligent automation.

The live demonstrations sparked engaging discussions on M5Stack’s real-world adaptability, showing how it simplifies hardware prototyping and deployment in IoT applications.

As the formal sessions wrapped up, attendees engaged in casual discussions over pizza, exchanging ideas on upcoming M5Stack products and hardware enhancements.
