OpenELAB @ Maker Faire Hannover 2025

OpenELAB was thrilled to be a part of Maker Faire Hannover 2025! Over the weekend of August 23–24, 2025, about 19,200 people attended this remarkable event. It is the largest maker faire in the Dach Area, attracting a diverse community of tech lovers, future engineers, and curious families. Being based in Munich, OpenELAB relishes the chance to strengthen connections with makers and to build bridges between maker communities. The event reinforced our belief that collaboration accelerates innovation. 🤝

At the Booth: A hub of products, learning, and conversations

  • Our booth center stage featured bestsellers and flagship demos from main brands: M5Stack modules, LILYGO gadgets, Meshtastic trackers from Seeed Studio , sensors from DFRobot , CNC machines from Genmitsu and so on. Engineers and developers gathered around our demo area for first-hand experiences with these modules and equipment. Questions and requests flew around the booth, and we were so honored to see that these made-in-China high quality electronic products can be seen and trusted by worldwide users.
  • An engaging educational area showcased lego-like learning tool kits from KEYESTUDIO ROBOT EDU . Teenagers enjoyed building projects to learn about programming and to see how creativity can spark from sensors, motors, and robots. We also received requests from many universities, schools and labs for educational discounts which we gladly provide in our Education Program, as we support future makers and engineers in any means possible!
  • For families and e-product enthusiasts, we specifically prepared some fun geek products such as LED name tags, an electronic sandglass, LED hats, neckbands, and 3D holographic fans. Visitors were amazed by how one sparking electronic night stand can upgrade your home deco to another level!

Special Collaboration with LILYGO: A professional meet-up

For OpenELAB, this Maker Faire experience is very special. We had the honor to host a fantastic collaboration with LILYGO, and we were honored to invite LILYGO’s founders to Hannover. They are two professional engineers with strong technical backgrounds who shared front-tier information on product development and gathered invaluable feedback from product users. They also brought LILYGO's latest products, which grabbed many engineers' attention. Everyone wants to get their hands on! (Don't worry, latest products will be in stock in OpenELAB's Munich warehouse very soon!)

Their presence demonstrated how LILYGO values engineers’ feedback from a technical perspective, and how OpenELAB, as a distributor, is happy to help connect strong Chinese electronic development brands with European maker communities for more direct and open conversations.

A personal touch: meeting our customers in person

A highlight of Hannover was meeting our clients from openelab.io and openelab.de in person. We enjoyed discussing our products, gathering feedback, and exploring ways we can improve our services. To show our appreciation, we prepared fancy goodie bags for our customers. We hope that every customer can come to OpenELAB with high expectations, and come back next time with love and excitement.
We also encountered many visitors who traveled by train from Munich to Hannover to attend the Maker Faire, just like us! We were thrilled to meet Munich locals and we warmly invited them to visit our office one day in Garching b. München for a fun immersive product tour!

Quote from Jason, COO of OpenELAB (Head of Shenzhen office)

Maker Faire Hannover was a wonderful opportunity to meet customers, gather feedback on our products, and spot the latest tech trends. It was an amazing encounter with the entire maker community. I was surprised at how every maker I met wore a smile and a friendly tone, and was eager to share knowledge and opinions. Everyone is passionate about what we’re doing, and it really made me feel warm and supported. It makes me confident to feel that OpenELAB is doing the right thing!
