A raindrop sensor is a detection device primarily used for detecting rain and measuring the amount of rainfall. It is widely applied in car automatic wiper systems, smart lighting systems, and intelligent sunroof systems. The sensor uses high-quality FR-04 double material with a large area of 5.0 * 4.0 cm, and the surface is nickel-plated for oxidation resistance, conductivity, and superior durability. The sensitivity can be adjusted using a potentiometer, and the operating voltage is from 3.3V to 5V.

Output Types:

  • Digital output (0 and 1)
  • Analog output AO voltage

Using LM393 Dual Voltage Comparator:

  • When connected to a 5V power supply and there are no water droplets on the sensor, the DO output is at a high level.
  • When water droplets are present, the DO output is at a low level.
  • If the droplets are wiped off, the output returns to a high level.

Connections:

  • The AO analog output can be connected to the AD interface on a microcontroller to detect the size of the raindrops.
  • The DO digital output can be connected to a microcontroller to detect the presence of rain.
