The ambient light sensor, also known as an environmentally friendly photoresistor, is designed to replace CdS photoresistors and complies with RoHS directive (lead-free and cadmium-free). It features a specially designed filter epoxy resin package with a spectral response characteristic similar to the human eye. The sensor outputs a linear response to varying illumination levels and has certain temperature stability. It boasts low dark current and low operating illuminance, making it suitable for a wide range of light control circuits, such as controlling and adjusting lighting, adjusting backlight in devices like TVs, PDAs, cameras, LCD/LED displays, and mobile phones, as well as controlling toys and lighting equipment. The ambient light sensor is highly sensitive to ambient light, typically used to detect the brightness of surrounding light conditions.
