M5Paper v1.1 is M5Stack's latest core device featuring a touch-enabled E-ink display. Powered by the ESP32-D0WDQ6-V3 , this is our first device to incorporate an oversized E-ink display that supports 16 grayscale levels. The display is a capacitive touchscreen that allows for two-point touch and various gesture controls.
Unlike regular LCDs, E-ink displays are easier on the eyes, making them an excellent choice for reading or viewing for extended periods. Additionally, they have low power consumption and can retain images even when the power to the display is turned off.
The CoreInk includes a multifunction button for operation, an SHT30 temperature and moisture sensor, physical buttons, and a TF card (microSD) port for data storage.
The FM24C02 internal EEPROM chip provides 2K bits (256 x 8) of EEPROM, which can be used to store essential data even when the device is powered off. An 1150mAh lithium polymer battery ensures long operating periods, and the battery life can be further extended by utilizing the RTC (Real-Time Clock) to put the device into deep sleep mode, allowing it to wake up when needed. Additionally, three HY2.0-4P expansion ports are included, enabling the creation of complex projects using existing sensors from the M5Stack ecosystem.
M5Paper v1.1 adopts a flexible e-Ink screen panel, which is the same model as that of M5Paper v1.0 hard e-Ink screen panel. All features and specs are the same for both models. We are using CP2104 and CH9102 as the USB serial chip in alternative. Please install the relevant USB driver according to your device.
Warning:
1. Do not expose to ultraviolet rays for a long time, otherwise, it may cause irreversible damage to the ink screen.
2. The low-power power management solution adopted by M5Paper is different from CORE and StickC devices. When using it, the PWR button is used as the power-on button (long press for 2s). If you need to shut down the device, you need to use the software API or It is realized by pressing the reset button on the back. When using USB power supply, it cannot be shut down.
3. During use, if the program cannot be downloaded normally (the prompt is overtime or Failed to write to target RAM), you can try to reinstall the device driver. For driver download, please see the content at the bottom of the document.
