We divide temperature measurement into two types: contact and non-contact. While contact measurement requires the sensor and object to reach thermal equilibrium—which can result in slower readings and ambient temperature interference—non-contact temperature sensing utilizes infrared radiation (IR) to detect surface temperature quickly and accurately, without physical touch.
In recent years, non-contact temperature sensing has gained popularity in medical, environmental monitoring, home automation, automotive electronics, aerospace, and military applications.
Our latest solution, the MLX90614-DCI-based IR temperature sensor, is part of the Gravity series and is designed for precision and ease of integration. This infrared temperature sensor measures surface temperature by detecting infrared radiation energy and wavelength distribution. The system includes an optical unit, photoelectric detector, amplifier, signal processing, and output module. The collected IR radiation is converted into electrical signals, amplified, and processed to output accurate temperature readings.
This module features self-calibration, a low-noise amplifier, and a 17-bit ADC with DSP for enhanced signal quality and reliable performance.
