The soil moisture sensor module has two copper probes that act as the sensor's detection points. When these probes are inserted into the soil, they can detect the soil's moisture level. The sensor works on the principle that the wetter the soil, the better its conductivity, which results in lower resistance between the probes. Conversely, drier soil has poorer conductivity and thus higher resistance between the probes. As an analog sensor, it provides voltage readings through analog input. The soil moisture can be categorized into different levels, making it convenient to use the soil moisture sensor for creating an automatic watering system.
