Description
Seeed Studio reComputer Mini J4012 with Extension is a compact edge AI computer built around the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 16GB module. It delivers up to 100 TOPS of AI performance and adds a dedicated extension board underneath the Mini platform, making it much more suitable for robots, drones, patrol systems, delivery robots, mobile edge devices, and embedded AI platforms that need richer I/O.
Compared with the standard reComputer Mini J4012, this version is designed for projects that need more connectivity and direct system integration. The extension board expands the platform with up to 8 USB ports, dual CAN, I2C, SPI, and additional XT30 power connectors, while the main unit still keeps its compact embedded form factor, 128GB NVMe SSD, and JetPack pre-installed.
This model is especially attractive for battery-powered and autonomous machines. With support for 12V-54V DC input and a layout better suited for system-level integration, it is a stronger fit than the standard Mini version when you need embedded AI compute plus expansion-ready hardware in one compact package.
Features
- Jetson Orin NX 16GB performance: Up to 100 TOPS for advanced edge AI, robotics, machine vision, and intelligent video analysis.
- Extension-ready hardware platform: Adds a bottom expansion board for up to 8 USB ports, dual CAN, I2C, and SPI.
- Wide-voltage input for mobile systems: Supports 12V-54V DC, which is especially useful for drones, robots, and battery-powered edge systems.
- Compact embedded design: Keeps the Mini series size advantage while offering much stronger system integration flexibility than a standard mini AI box.
- Deployment-friendly configuration: Includes 128GB NVMe SSD and JetPack 6.0 pre-installed for faster bring-up and development.

Other Content
The extension board is the defining advantage of this SKU. If your project needs more USB devices, more control buses, or easier integration with sensors and actuators, this version is much more practical than the base Mini J4012.
For AI video workloads, Jetson Orin NX also gives this system strong decoding and inference capability. You can review the official YOLOv8 DeepStream multi-stream benchmarks for a better understanding of expected Jetson video analytics performance.
If you want a faster software bring-up path, Seeed also provides Jetson example projects covering generative AI and computer vision workflows, which helps shorten the time from hardware setup to application validation.
If you do not need the extra expansion board, you can compare it with the more compact reComputer Mini J4012. If you need a lighter Orin Nano version, the reComputer Mini J3011 is also worth comparing.
