Hat ToF is a compact, high-precision laser distance sensor module designed specifically for the M5StickC platform. It integrates the ST VL53L0X time-of-flight (ToF) ranging chip and a 940nm VCSEL laser emitter to deliver fast and accurate distance measurements. By calculating the round-trip time of a laser pulse, it can measure absolute distances up to 2 meters in under 30 milliseconds.

Unlike traditional infrared sensors, Hat ToF provides consistent accuracy regardless of the target’s reflectivity. This makes it ideal for applications such as obstacle detection, gesture recognition, and 3D sensing. Whether you're building a smart robot, an interactive interface, or a depth-aware camera system, Hat ToF ensures reliable performance in real-time environments.

📘 Learning Tips

Extended Range Mode
To achieve the maximum 2-meter range, enable Long Range mode and ensure a dark environment with minimal infrared interference. Under standard lighting, the typical range is up to 120 cm.
