CoreS3 is the third generation of the M5Stack Core series. It is powered by the ESP32-S3 solution, featuring a dual-core Xtensa LX7 processor that operates at 240 MHz. The CoreS3 includes built-in Wi-Fi functionality for seamless connectivity. Additionally, it boasts 16 MB of onboard flash memory and 8 MB of PSRAM, offering ample storage space for programs.
CoreS3 provides convenient programming options through its USB Type-C interface, which supports OTG (On-The-Go) and CDC (Communication Device Class) functions. This makes it easy to connect with external USB devices and simplifies firmware flashing. The device features a 2.0-inch capacitive touch IPS screen, protected by high-strength glass. Additionally, it includes a 30W pixel camera GC0308 located at the bottom of the screen, as well as a proximity sensor (LTR-553ALS-WA ) to enhance functionality.
Power management is handled by the AXP2101 power management core chip , which utilizes a 4-way power flow control loop for efficient power distribution, emphasizing low power consumption in its overall design. CoreS3 also incorporates a 6-axis attitude sensor BMI270 and a magnetometer BMM150 for precise motion detection. Furthermore, it has an onboard TF card (microSD) slot and a BM8563 RTC chip to provide accurate timing and support sleep-timer wake-up functions.
The CoreS3 is designed for optimal sound output, featuring a high-fidelity 16-bit I2S power amplifier chip AW88298 and a built-in 1W speaker that ensures clear audio playback. For sound input, the kit includes the ES7210 audio decoding chip along with a dual-microphone setup.
On the side of the device, you'll find an independent power button and a reset (RST) button, both enhanced by a self-built delay circuit. By long-pressing the reset button, users can easily enter program download mode.
The CoreS3 kit comes with the DinBase Base, which offers versatile options for mounting, including Din rail, wall, and screw fixtures. It can be powered by an external DC 12V source (compatible with 9V to 24V) or an internal 500mAh lithium battery. Additionally, the DinBase provides multiple prototype locations, allowing users to customize and expand their projects.
The CoreS3 is an excellent choice for IoT development, various DIY projects, smart home control systems, and industrial automation control systems.
