As awareness of air quality grows, monitoring particulate matter like PM2.5, PM1.0, and PM10 has become essential. The Gravity: PM2.5 Air Quality Sensor by DFRobot offers a highly reliable and accurate solution for real-time air quality detection, based on laser scattering technology.

The sensor uses a digital universal particle sensing module to continuously collect and calculate the number and size distribution of suspended particulate matter in the air. Leveraging the MIE scattering theory, it delivers precise data on particle concentration via a simple and efficient I2C interface.

Its compact and ultra-thin design (12mm) makes it ideal for portable environmental monitoring devices, while the Gravity interface ensures easy integration with mainstream microcontrollers like Arduino.

How It Works

A laser light source illuminates airborne particles, causing scattering. The scattered light is collected and analyzed by a microprocessor, which calculates the particle size and concentration using an advanced algorithm. The output is then sent to a connected MCU as a digital signal.
