ID Unit is a crypto coprocessor that incorporates the ATECC608B hardware cryptographic chip. It is designed to provide secure key storage and cryptographic functionalities for various applications. ID Unit utilizes the I2C communication interface for data exchange and control.
The ATECC608B chip integrated into the ID Unit features hardware-based secure key storage. It includes a built-in 10Kb EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) for storing keys, certificates, data, consumption records, and security configurations. The EEPROM allows for secure storage of sensitive information, protecting it from unauthorized access or tampering.
One of the notable features of the ATECC608B chip is its guaranteed unique 72-bit serial number. Each chip has a unique identifier, ensuring individuality and facilitating secure device identification in various applications. ATECC608B chip provides several security features to protect against attacks. It safeguards the device itself and prevents logical attacks on the data transferred between devices. These security measures help ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and authenticity of the stored data and cryptographic operations.
ID Unit supports the Trust&GO platform, which offers pre-built universal certificates for TLS-based network security authentication. It allows for easy integration with popular cloud platforms such as AWS-IoT, Azure, Google, and others. The internal certificate of the encryption chip can be obtained through the corresponding tool, enabling automatic registration without exposing the private key.
